Viewpoint south on the seawall at Fortweg
The Fortweg runs from the port/ industrial estate on Vlieland to the eastern tip of the island (on the beach you will find beach pavilion OOST).
At the end of the Fortweg there is a high dune, especially on the north side of the Fortweg (previously there were bunkers of the 2nd World War Atlantic Wall here, but they have all been blown up).
On the south side of the Fortweg, although the dune is not as high, you walk even more towards the eastern tip, giving you a nice view of the beach, dunes, the Vliesloot, the sandbank the Richel and, on a clear day, Terschelling and Harlingen.
Tip:
1) there is a narrow path just behind the crest of the dune to the south.
2) bring binoculars....
