`Vincent van Gogh in sound and colour` by the Van Gogh
Trio.
After years of playing together, the Van Gogh Trio now
really dared to venture into a programme around their namesake Vincent
van Gogh.
This concert programme takes you to the French
countryside with Maurice Ravels piano trio, but also works that colour
outside the lines of impressionism. For instance, the enchanting and
colourful piano trio by Amy Beach, who, like Van Gogh, had synesthesia
(where senses stimulate each other, e.g. hearing music when seeing
colours), will be played.
In addition, the trio collaborated with
two young up-and-coming composers: Catharina Clement commissioned the
trio to write a new work inspired by paintings by Van Gogh, and Floris
Heijdra arranged the moving song `Traume` by Richard Wagner - Van
Gogh`s favourite composer.
To complete the colourful
spectacle, we are collaborating with a VJ (video jockey), who will
project fragments of Van Gogh`s paintings live at the concert and
weave them together into a new, living spectacle. One thing is
certain: at VINCENT, you will hear and see the painter as never
before.
`You can hear the sunflowers and the cherry blossom
when you see the Van Gogh Trio play.`
About the
musicians:
The Van Gogh Trio - consisting of Enzo Kok (violin),
Charlotte Brussee (cello) and Maxim Heijmerink (piano) - is conquering
the Dutch stages with concerts that are praised for their liveliness,
personality and fresh charisma. The trio emerged in Amsterdam from a
close friendship between three promising musicians, all prize winners
of the Prinses Christina Concours, who first played together at the
Amsterdam Conservatory.
Their national breakthrough soon
followed with a live performance at Podium Witteman, followed by
invitations to the Amsterdam Grachtenfestival, Radio 4 and a special
Podium Witteman Masterclass with Isabelle van Keulen, among others.
They were also personally selected for the international Masterclass
Apeldoorn by Dmitry Ferschtman. Since 2022, the trio has been part of
the Dutch String Quartet Academy (NSKA) under the direction of Marc
Danel. They recently performed at TivoliVredenburg and the
Concertgebouw Amsterdam, among other venues.
